About Me

I’m Mathew Rusky, a writer and storyteller. My devotion is to make sense of the world through our doting need to laugh and the exasperating catharsis found in compelling narratives.
I’m completing my Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Professional Writing and Publishing at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Through UIC, I used every opportunity to hone my voice across various mediums. I’m published in UIC’s student-run journal of writing and art: Graphê. The Spring 2025 Volume contained my short story, Half Empty.
Whether working away on my comedy writing, stand-up material, screenplays, or fiction, I’m committed to creating work that resonates with audiences. Storytelling is a structural tool for empathy, deliberation, and introspection. There’s always a sincere, yet unorthodox, angle to any project I tackle.
I run a YouTube channel where I post low-budget, high-effort comedy with friends. This is where my comedy writing shines, garnering thousands of views on videos where I can let loose and have fun. My goal is to work in entertainment, but I’m climbing that ladder, rung by rung, one day at a time, to a never-ending top. There’s always a fresh and revolutionary angle for my projects–so why settle? That’s my larger arc; I hope my writing stick with you long after they end.
